Route 347 and Landing Avenue Construction, Safe Summer Nights on Tuesday

Good morning. Here's what's happening today in Smithtown.

-Smithtown drivers heading should leave extra time to travel on Route 347 or avoid the area between Route 111/Wheeler Road and Mount Pleasant Road. 

New York State Department of Transportation has started shifting lanes of traffic to pave the center median, starting the second stretch of the Route 347 greenway project. 

- Summer is the time construction peaks, as Landing Avenue bridge is closed for repairs. Drivers are being redirected onto Edgewood Avenue to take Route 25A north. Leave extra time if you plan on heading to the town pools. 

- Smithtown teens are invited to the Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve in Commack to hang out with friends in a drug-free, alcohol-free atmosphere at Safe Summer Nights, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
