Should There Be More Fuel Efficient Parking Spots Locally?

With gas prices once again increasing and almost every car manufacturer producing their own fuel efficient vehicle, the popularity of going green while driving is on the rise. 

But should going green with your car also give you an advantage when parking it? 

Shopping centers designate spots closest to the storefronts for handicapped parking, but a recent trend is designating spots close to storefronts for fuel efficient vehicles. There aren't a ton of these parking spots locally but they do exist, such as the ones at the four branches of the Smithtown Special Library District.
