"This event has grown significantly every year and for good reason," Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim said in a news release. "Our Recreation Department works in lockstep with the school districts, community organizations, businesses and nonprofits like the Smithtown Food Pantry for months to organize a fantastic live show, featuring our talented young residents. Additionally, the Smithtown Fire Department utilizes special satellite technology to coordinate logistics for Santa to make an early trip to Smithtown every year."

The town is set to debut new performances this year and will also offer the Big Black Food Truck. Panico's Community Market will be serving gourmet hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa will have his own chair handy so kids can take photos and interact with him more easily.
"If you haven’t been to the Annual Tree Lighting, I highly recommend you mark your calendars to experience the festivities," Wehrheim said.
Live performances will include the Smithtown High School West Whisperettes, Great Hollow Middle School Choir, Accompsett Middle School Choir, Sara Jean Dance Company, RJO Carolers, Smithtown High School West Jazz Choir, and Hauppauge High School Kickline. Entertainment for the evening will include holiday music and balloon sculpting for kids of all ages by Animations.
The town will have a collection site set up for the Smithtown Food Pantry during the event. Residents may drop off non-perishables like canned foods, boxed cereals and snacks, powdered milk and powdered baby formula.
Smithtown Town Hall is at 99 W. Main St., Smithtown. The rain date for the event is slated for Nov. 30.
