Smithtown Arsenal Brings Home National Title
Two Smithtown players receive individual awards, three named to honorary team.

Smithtown Arsensal boys soccer team is coming home from Kansas with another title to add to their long list of accomplishments: the U.S. Boys U-16 Youth Soccer National Champions.Â
Smithtown Arsenals beat the Georgia-based GSA Phoenix by score of 2-0 at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships held in Overland Park, Kansas on July 28, Newsday reports. Â
The title places the Arsenals among an elite group. They are the seventh Long island Junior Soccer League team to win a national championship title, the first to do so since 2007.Â
T.J. Butzke was awarded the Golden Ball award as the best offensive player in the tournament. Goalkeeper Noah Varonier received the Golden Glove award, given out annually to the tournament's top goaltender.Â
Both Butzke and Varonier, along with teammate Steven Dovi, were named to the "Best of Eleven" team.Â
