Smithtown Board Meeting: Outdoor Sports Turf Area, Hoyt Farm, Water
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday. Here are some things set to be discussed.

SMITHTOWN, NY — The Town of Smithtown is set to host a town board meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smithtown Town Hall, at 99 W. Main St., Smithtown.

The board is seeking authorization for four public hearings, all which would be held 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at Smithtown Town Hall, to discuss laws on:

- Solid waste.
- Taxation.
- Fire prevention.
- Building an outdoor turf sports training area at Long Island Field House, at 295 Oser Ave., Hauppauge.
The town board is set to approve the following:
- An agreement with Nissequogue Village for Town of Smithtown fire marshals, animal shelter personnel or other qualified personnel to make inspections and enforce violations of the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code, through Dec. 31, 2023.
- An agreement with the Village of the Branch allowing the village to use Town of Smithtown animal control officers, fire marshals, public safety ordinance inspectors, park rangers or other qualified personnel for inspections and enforcing local laws and ordinances, including the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code, through Dec. 31, 2023.
- Terminate the agreement with Property Registration Champions, Prochamps regarding the registration of vacant, abandoned and foreclosed properties, effective immediately.
- Agreement with Cornerstone Engineering and Geology on a 1-year term to provide professional services for the Department of Environment and Waterways.
- Ratify the 2023 Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program.

- Cataldo Grasso Architects to construct three separate pavilions at the Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve.
- L.K. McLean Associates for the preparation and submission of monthly reports about landfill gas monitoring activities for the Montclair Avenue Landfill site.
- The Center for Workplace Solutions to provide workplace investigation services to the Town of Smithtown.
- New York state regarding municipal waste reduction and recycling project grants for Municipal Services Facility equipment.
