Driver Critically Injured In Smithtown Collision

A vehicle turned left in front of another vehicle just before the two collided, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — One person was critically injured in a collision in Smithtown on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A vehicle was traveling on Veterans Memorial Highway when another vehicle turned left in front of that vehicle, and the two collided at 12:32 p.m., police said. One driver was critically injured and brought to a nearby hospital, while the other person declined medical attention, police said.

Westbound Veterans Memorial Highway has since reopened.
