1. The U.S. Congress’ highest honor for youth went to two Smithtown East seniors, Srivaths Ravva and Vishala Swami have earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal. All of Smithtown is proud of you! (Greater Long Island)
2. Check out May and June events that will be held in the newly leased spaced at the historic Calderone Theatre in St. James. By participating in the events are you helping raise funds for the purchase and renovation of the historic, over 100-year-old building located at 176 Second St. in St. James. Proceeds will go to creating the St. James Community Cultural Arts Center with a small theatre and outdoor plaza. (Smithtown Matters)

Since the pandemic, the Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has dealt with staffing gaps in hiring and retaining nursing assistants at its 460-bed nursing care facility at its Commack campus. Their solution was to train from within, Gurwin has already graduated several groups of employees from the paid training program and will have about 90 new certified nursing aides by the end of the year.
