- The Smithtown Central School District announced that Aman Mistry, a senior at Smithtown High School East, was voted by his peers (seniors who achieved a 4.0 cumulative GPA through high school) to deliver the commencement speech this year. Trishaulla Kanhai is also scheduled to speak at commencement, she is president of the Class Council. (Smithtown Patch)
- Two women, Ying Ying Yu, 43, of Flushing, and Wen Ping Long, 48, of Flushing, were arrested in connection with unlicensed massages at Health Spa, at 157 Smithtown Blvd., in Nesconset on Wednesday. They received multiple violations from both the Fire Marshal and Building Inspector who said the building is unsafe for business. (Smithtown Patch)
- The Gilgo Beach murders are still not solved. Police launched a rebuilt Gilgo news website so more information can be given to the public, such as the release of a video of Megan Waterman at the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge in June 2010. It is suspected that Waterman left the hotel that night to meet her killer. Police are offering a historic $50,000 reward, the biggest reward offered in Suffolk County's history, for any information leading to an arrest. Call 1-800-220-TIPS. (News 12 Connecticut)
- Our beautiful Caleb Smith State Park Preserve, one of four state nature preserves on Long Island, was featured on News 12 - Road Trip: Close to Home attractions for April 14. The article boasts about the park's 543 acres with paths to explore and its picturesque views. The best time to visit? We all know that spring in Smithtown, especially in the park, is the best time for beautiful blooms, bird watching and fishing. (News 12 New Jersey)
