  1. Adopt From Smithtown Area Shelters. Do you want to add to your family and make a positive impact on the Smithtown community at the same time? Perhaps it's finally time to adopt a pet!   2. Smithtown Town And School District Team Up For STEM Project. The Town of Smithtown, in partnership with the Smithtown Central School District, embarked on phase two of its first STEM program partnership. On Dec. 2, students in Kimberly Williams’ Marine Biology class at High School West got an inside look at the Town’s Recycling and Solid Waste process at Smithtown Municipal Services Facility as it relates to the environment and the major challenge Long Island will face, once the Brookhaven landfill closes in 2024.   3. Woman's Purse Stolen At Smith Haven Mall. Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 7:30 p.m. A person or persons stole a purse containing a wallet, cash, and jewelry from a woman at Smith Haven Mall and fled, police said. (Smithtown Patch)
  4. Manorville Teens Missing After Being Spotted At LIRR Station. Suffolk County Police are asking for the public's help in locating two Manorville teenagers who were last seen at the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station on Thursday. Vincent Abolafia, 15, and his girlfriend, Kaileigh Catalano, 15, were last spotted at the station on Dec. 9 with the intention of boarding the 3:11 p.m. train into Manhattan, according to detectives from the Seventh Squad. Anyone with information about their location is asked to call 911 or the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752. (Newsday)
