  1. Two brothers were arrested in the robbery of a QuickChek in Lake Grove, according to authorities. Police said Matthew and William Tait stole cash, cigarettes and merchandise from the QuickChek at 2686 Middle Country Road. Matthew Tait allegedly displayed a gun while William Tait forced the clerk to open the register, according to Suffolk police. (Daily Voice)

The State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees for 2021-2022 appointed 10 Stony Brook University faculty members to the rank of Distinguished Professor — a prestigious honor bestowed upon professionals of the highest caliber.   3. A West Babylon woman was arrested in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in March in Stony Brook. Police said Brenda Alvarenga fatally struck Gina Paduano with her vehicle March 7 on Route 347. Alvarenga was arraigned Friday in Central Islip. (News 12 Bronx)

  5. Dimitri Robert, 27, was found guilty of shooting his 17-year-old brother to death outside of a relative's home in Coram on Oct. 1, 2019, the office of Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said Thursday. The shooting was a result of a domestic dispute between Robert and his mother and not being able to see his own five kids. Robert is facing 25 years to life in prison when he appears before Justice Richard Ambro for sentencing on May 24. (Patch)
