- A North Amityville man was arrested in Copiague and charged with third-degree grand larceny. Xavier Maldonado, 38, of Amityville, was arrested and charged with third-degree rape. See more incidents in the Suffolk Arrest Report. (Patch)
- The $8.4 million project to centralize all ground transportation at Long Island MacArthur Airport has been completed. "Rental cars, taxi stands, buses, ride-hailing services, hotel courtesy shuttles and Long Island Rail Road Station transportation will all be in the same hub beginning April 6," according to Newsday. - Christopher W. Ortiz, a Huntington man, pleaded guilty to federal charges resulting from the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Ortiz is among 800 who have been "charged in the attack on the U.S. Capitol that grew out of attempts to block the certification of election results that led to the election of Joe Biden and the loss by Donald Trump." Ortiz faces a penalty of up to six months of imprisonment; a term of probation of not more than five years, a fine of not more than $5,000. (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
- The Department of Environmental Conservation will be stocking Belmont Lake with nearly 1,000 brown and brook trout just in time for the Spring Fishing Festival. "The Spring Fishing Festival at Belmont Lake State Park is an excellent way to kick off the fishing season and introduce family and friends to the sport with no license needed, " said DEC Regional Director Cathy Haas. Loaner rods and free bait will be available to participants but supplies are limited so participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing tackle if possible. (Patch)
