  1. We are six days away from Mardi Gras, check out 15 Long Island Cajun restaurants to eat for this festive event. Enjoy jazz-fueled atmospheres and Cajun-style food to eat in celebration of Mardi Gras this year. (Long Island Press)
  2. A 12-year-old child is recovering after being shot and struck in the eye by a pellet gun while walking in the parking lot of the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park on Monday around 5:30 p.m. Investigators believe the pellet was fired from an airsoft gun by a person in a passing car. The same car shot pellets in North Babylon 20 minutes before the Deer Park incident. (WABC-TV)

  4. According to a news release, Paws of War recently hosted its "Hearts and Heroes" event at its Nesconset headquarters. The event was an effort to give back to veterans and first responders by providing 27 service animals with free veterinary care, which included wellness checks, flea and tick medications, vaccinations, bags of dog food, and microchipping service.
