  1. From trails to concessions, park officials said the master Nissequogue Park plan will incorporate much of what community members asked for over the past few years. A lot of recreational requests were submitted, such as tennis/pickleball courts, pools, even equestrian stables. Most importantly, some community members asked that the natural beauty of the park remain intact, regardless of the construction of the recreational facilities. (Smithtown Matters)
  2. The Port Jefferson Easter parade and egg hunt will start at noon on April 17. The event will feature Easter Bunny riding on an Old-Fashioned "Easter Bonnet." The parade will start in front of Theatre Three and will finish at the Port Jefferson Harbor where the egg hunt will start. (PJCofC)
  3. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson received an award of $25,000 from the Katz Institute for Women's Health to assist in the creation of an Integrative Oncology Program to help with both the physical and mental pain of cancer patients. The services will be free of charge to participants and the clinic is planned to open in April. (TBR News Media)
  4. If you have ever eaten at Toast Coffeehouse in Port Jefferson, you will know how jam-packed it gets, especially over the weekend. Well, to resolve that issue, Toast Coffeehouse is moving to 650 Route 112 and will reopen in late May or early June. The new space is larger to accommodate regular customers and parties. (Greater Long Island)
  5. Previously zoned residential, the Islip Town Board voted unanimously to protect buildings and landmarks at Dowling College’s Oakdale campus by rezoning it to a landmark preservation district. Homes can still be built, but with some protections. (Subscription: Newsday)
