1. A woman carrying a baby was hit by a vehicle in Smithtown by 99 West St., near New York Avenue on Tuesday. The driver waited for police and no criminality was involved. Both woman and child were taken to Stoneybrook Hospital for observation. (Subscription Needed/Newsday)
2. Good news for the bald eagle lovers of Centerport! The Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals has postponed a vote to grant variances for the construction of a retaining wall in Centerport. Since 2018, concerned citizens have been posting on Facebook and started a petition to stop the nearby construction project interfering with the habitat of the eagles in Centerport. “The nest is located directly within 650 feet where the construction is supposed to happen and it’s at the same height as the nest itself,” Centerport resident Robert Schwartz said. 3. Many of the Long Island's Gold Coast mansions of the Roaring ’20s have been demolished but many others have been re-purposed and renovated.
