  1. On Monday, students in grades 1-5 from Dogwood Elementary School enjoyed a fun-packed Field Day at Smithtown High School East. Teamwork and cooperation were achieved as students played "tire roll relay, the wheel barrel race, water race relay and tug of war!" (Smithtown Matters)
  2. Last week, the school district announced two seniors from Smithtown High School East, Sarah Schubel and Jonathan Chung, were presented proclamations from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone for placing as Regeneron STS scholars. Schubel "investigated a mechanism for neurodevelopmental disorders" and Chung "investigated the changes in the coral microbiome under heat stress creating a higher resistance to coral bleaching." (Patch)
  3. Belong Gaming will open its first Long Island esports gaming center at the Smith Haven mall. The application was approved by the town in April. The gaming center will take up 5,000 square feet that was formerly held by retail stores. (Smithtown Patch)
  4. ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles — with no cure. I know this first-hand; my sister-in-law has ALS and has lost all ability in her legs and hands. Join the fight as "ALS patients and their families raise awareness with ALS Ride For Life." Please donate today! (News 12 Brooklyn)
