  1. Two Smithtown men pretending to be police officers got to visit a real jail after an interstate traffic stop. Edward Hanner Jr., 40, and Edward Alexander Patterson, 54, are charged with impersonating a police officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.(Smithtown Patch)
  2. Smithtown adoptable pets of the week: Ranger and Lily. These two bonded pair of cats lost their home in a fire and need a loving furrever home. "They are very healthy for their age and have recently had their teeth polished," the Smithtown Animal Shelter wrote in an email.   3. Smithtown is undergoing a $1.1 million worth of energy efficiency upgrades to town buildings. By doing so, the Town believes the upgrades will save more money in cutting energy costs over the next 20 years. Smithtown's agreement with contractor Siemens calls for work over the next two years on 10 town buildings, including the town senior center, highway department headquarters and municipal services facility, officials said.   4. Two robberies in Lake Grove: a woman stole approximately $2,100 worth of probiotics from Whole Foods Market, at 120 New Moriches Road, on Monday, police said. A man on Feb. 12 stole from a Macy's in Smith Haven Mall, police said. He asked an employee to remove a $4,000 gold chain from a locked case and then stole it, police said. (Patch)
