- Powerball lottery tickets worth $50,000 were sold on Long Island. No one won the Powerball jackpot, but the third-place winning tickets were sold at Guinta’s Meat Farms on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma and another was sold in East Meadow. (Newsbreak)
- Yesterday - a new online portal launched for 13 new COVID-19 testing locations across New York State. Two of the facilities are on Long Island; in Suffolk County at the IBEW Local 25 on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge; in Nassau County at Kennedy Memorial Park on Greenwich Street in Hempstead. Residents can make an appointment starting today. (News 12)
- Construction starts for major flood risk management project on Long Island. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, recently gathered with elected officials at Fire Island Lighthouse, Bay Shore, to commemorate construction for a major coastal-storm risk-management project. The Fire Island to Montauk Point (FIMP) Project is projected to reduce flood risk for Long Islanders along 83 miles of coastline in Suffolk County from Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point. This comprehensive, $1.7 billion project includes a variety of features to reduce coastal flood risks. The New York District will lead construction efforts in concert with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), the non-federal sponsor, in cooperation with Suffolk County, the Towns of Babylon, Islip, Brookhaven, Southampton and Easthampton.
