- The Smithtown school announced via news release, the Suffolk School Library Media Association's Librarian of the Year Award went to Cathy Masrour, the librarian of Smithtown High School West. Masrour was also the recipient of the library and technology project awards. Way to go, Cathy! (Smithtown Patch)
- Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest of a man who used stolen credit cards that were previously stolen from a wallet in a 2001 Mercedes. The cards were used at several gas stations in Hauppauge, Smithtown and Wyandanch. (Patch)
- Earline Milligan, 42, of Huntington was charged with one count of animal cruelty (a class A misdemeanor), for neglecting her 1-year-old male pit bull mix dog. Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said Milligan was charged "for allowing her dog to become severely emaciated and to suffer from multiple infected open sores all over its body." (LongIsland.com)
- Smithtown Police Blotter: 82 outdoor storage units at Public Storage were broken into in Nesconset, police said. Police said they are investigating what was stolen. (Patch)
- Jonathan Hernandez, 24, of Brentwood, a MS-13 gang member, accused of killing rival gang members in 2016, pleaded guilty to murder charges. Hernandez faces life in prison. (Patch)
