- Maureen's Kitchen was once again named best breakfast and best brunch on Long Island, according to the 2022 Bethpage Best of LI awards. The breakfast spot, at 108 Terry Road, Smithtown, has won best breakfast on the island 11 times in 13 tries since 2010, and best brunch for a fourth consecutive year. (Patch)
- At Smithtown Ninja Academy, children and adults of all skill levels learn how to analyze, approach, and conquer ninja warrior obstacles, as stated on the website. Smithtown Ninja Academy owner Kathryn Gawrych said, "Ninja-style classes offer a way to build students' confidence when they complete a difficult course." (Subscription: Newsday)
- Timothy Harrison, a Babylon special-education teacher, arrested earlier this month on charges of raping a 15-year-old student nine years ago was indicted Wednesday at Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead. In a press conference earlier this month, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison announced that the arrest comes after an investigation determined that Harrison had a sexual relationship with a high school student in 2013. The student was 15 at the time, and Harrison was 38, police said. (Patch)
- Police have asked the public for help locating a woman accused of stealing two Craftsman toolsets from Lowe's in Commack at about 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-220-TIPS. (Daily Voice)
