3. Two scouts from Troop 125 raised over $1,700 for St. Baldrick’s, a foundation devoted to raising money to help fund research on child cancer. To raise money, people volunteer to shave their heads in solidarity for those sick with cancer, as scouts Ethan N. and Wyatt B. did. (Smithtown Matters)

Edward Marcuteanu, 43, a Lindenhurst man, was riding a Splach electric scooter about a quarter mile west of Exit 40 on the Sunrise Highway when he was struck and killed by a 2016 Honda Accord at approximately 3:20 a.m. Monday morning. Stailin Diazestevez, 22, of Ozone Park, the driver of the Honda and his passenger, Travis O’Sullivan, 28, of Smithtown, were both taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
