  1. Smithtown Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Whisper. Whisper is a female domestic medium hair mix between 7 and 8 months old and is the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week. She went to the shelter as part of its Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. "This fluffy lady can be a little shy when you first meet her, but once she learns to trust you, she is as friendly as can be!" the shelter wrote. (Smithtown Patch)
  2. Suffolk Legislator Rob Trotta Secures Funding For Smithtown Chamber's Ice Skating Rink, Visit From Santa. Through an omnibus grant administered by the Suffolk County Office of Economic Development, Suffolk County Legislators Rob Trotta and Leslie Kennedy secured funding for the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce to have a temporary ice rink installed at the Fresh Market/LA Fitness Shopping Center’s parking lot on Main Street in Smithtown for an afternoon of family fun.   3. Threats Reported At Smithtown Schools; Police Investigating. Threats have been reported at two Smithtown schools this week, Suffolk police said. Police on Tuesday investigated a potential threat made at Great Hollow Middle School in Smithtown. An employee of the middle school reported on Monday that a student heard another student make a comment that was perceived as a threat. Police said there was no credible threat after officers showed up at the school on Tuesday. (Smithtown Patch)
