- Northport maritime heritage event takes place this Saturday at 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Northport Village Park and dock. Activities include a boat parade of 100+ boats, boats on display, seafood chowder contest, history exhibits and every child's thrill, marine life touch tanks! While the local restaurants compete in the chowder contest, three local breweries will compete for the best maritime brew. (HuntingtonNow.com)
- What do firemen do when not putting out fires? If you answered rescue ducklings from storm drains, you would be describing the Port Jefferson Fire Department's latest rescue. See adorable pictures, not of the ducklings, but of the men holding them. (Patch)
- If shopping at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park makes you hungry, there is a solution ā "mobile eateries." Every Friday through Sunday in Parking Lot 1, from noon to 7 p.m. you can feast on a variety of food from various food trucks! Rotation of the trucks will continue through the end of the year. - The 32nd annual LI Pride celebration is taking place, in person, in Farmingdale this year. Long Island Pride parade, concert and festival will be held Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. in downtown Farmingdale. (News 12 Long Island)
- Sammy Chu, of Suffolk County, was nominated to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority board this year. Chu has an impressive resume that includes being the "Chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council-Long Island Chapter and CEO of Edgewise Energy." The MTA is focusing on innovative strategies to secure new sources of revenue and increase ridership. (Railway Age)
