- The Town of Smithtown Blood Drive will be held at the Smithtown Landing Country Club on March 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For every person who donates blood, the New York Blood Center will make a donation to Feeding New York State. (Press Release Desk)
- Suffolk Arrest Report: A man was arrested in Wyandanch and charged with third-degree grand larceny; in Brentwood, a man was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: narcotic drug with intent to sell; and in Wyandanch, a man was charged with first-degree robbery. (Patch)
- Two people have been arrested in connection with an early morning robbery on Monday on Railroad Avenue at about 2:10 a.m. in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk police said. The incident has been classified as a first-degree robbery, meaning some method of force was used, according to New York Penal Law. The robbery is the second violent incident in Ronkonkoma in recent weeks. (Patch)
- Officials say a fire tore through a home in Brentwood early Friday morning. According to Suffolk fire officials, the blaze started in the kitchen around 1:20 a.m. The fire quickly spread to the attic. The Brentwood and Islip fire departments battled the blaze. No injuries have been reported. (Patch)
- The county has earmarked $1 million in funding towards coastal resiliency efforts, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced on Wednesday with Legislator Bridget Fleming (D—Sag Harbor). The county executive announced the Project Advisory Committee (PAC), which will identify key areas of impact, will work to steer project development and the PAC will decide how the funding should be spent.
