  1. Meet Thor. Thor is an 8-year-old male domestic shorthair; he is the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week. "His previous owners could no longer care for him, so he was surrendered to the Animal Shelter," the shelter wrote. "He is a sweet and mushy man who loves people, and he is looking for a family that can care for him furrever and ever." (Patch)
  2. According to the press release, the Smithtown Board will meet via Zoom videoconferencing on Thursday, March 24 at 2 p.m. to consider a proposed amendment to Chapter 112 of the Code of the Town of Smithtown entitled "Building Construction" as it relates to fees. To attend virtually (PC, Mac, smart phone, iPad, tablet) visit smithtownny.gov on the day of the meeting and select "Town Meetings," the press release stated. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Another successful maple sugaring season closes at the Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve. This unique educational program, available to the general public, teaches the ancient process of making maple syrup/sugar, which was passed down by the Native Americans to the colonists. It is now a full-blown family-oriented interactive experience, available to the general public (not restricted to Smithtown residents), and appropriate for all age groups. (Press Release Desk)
  4. Po'Boy Brewery, located at 200 Wilson St. in Port Jefferson Station, took the win in this year's Best of Long Island (BOLO) awards in the category of best craft brewery on Long Island. According to the Bethpage BOLI awards announcement, "As soon as you step inside, you're transported to a space reminiscent of a little European café where you can enjoy a selection of pilsners, ales, stouts, and cider flavors from mangolicious to apple pie." (Patch)
  5. A man stole $3,300 worth of clothing from the Macy's in Smith Haven Mall on Monday, police said. He is wanted for grand larceny. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
