- Saturday in Farmingdale, the U.S. Army and state elected officials presented thirty Vietnam War veterans from Long Island with commemorative medals to honor for their service. They urged people to never forget the sacrifices they made. The veterans were awarded the medals during a ceremony held at and hosted by the American Airpower Museum. (Subscription: Newsday)
- Mehdi Damaghi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is taking a different approach to cancer, and it is catching on. Damaghi is taking the same principles of evolutionary biology, understanding how a cancer can adapt and fight to survive. - To commemorate both Earth Day and Arbor Day, the 1k Daffodil Dash fun run/walk/wheel takes place, both in person and virtually, on Saturday, April 23.
