SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown Elementary School interim principal George Gagliardi held a "Pretzels with the Principal" get together on Wednesday to get to know his new community, the Smithtown School District announced.

"It’s a great chance to meet the kids and the families here so the first day of school isn’t as nerve-racking," Gagliardi said in a news release.

Gagliardi brings with him a wealth of experience and strives to build a deep commitment to student-centered leadership. He most recently served as principal of Bretton Woods Elementary School in the Hauppauge School District from 2012 to 2025.
