TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — The Town of Smithtown scheduled its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Smithtown Town Hall, located at 99 W. Main Street, Smithtown.
The popular holiday spectacular is a community-based event, orchestrated by the Town of Smithtown Recreation Department. The event features live music, performances from local school districts and dance companies, delicious holiday treats, entertainment and a special guest from the North Pole, courtesy of the Smithtown Fire Department.
"This event has grown significantly every year and for good reason… Our Recreation Department works in lockstep with the school districts, community organizations, businesses and nonprofits like the Smithtown Food Pantry for months to organize a fantastic live show, featuring local, very talented young residents," Supervisor Edward Wehrheim stated. "Our amazing Parks Department gets into the holiday spirit more and more each year… they transform Town Hall into a Winter Wonderland, quite literally. Additionally, the Smithtown Fire Department utilizes special satellite technology to coordinate logistics for Santa to make an early trip to Smithtown each year! In addition to a phenomenal lineup of live performances, delicious local fare and fun entertainment, we have added a photo booth feature!"
