Smithtown HS West Boys And Girls Soccer Teams Win LI Championships

Both Smithtown HS West teams are the best on Long Island. It marks the first time in history both the school's soccer teams won.

SMITHTOWN, NY — The Smithtown High School West boys and girls soccer teams both won Long Island Championships, marking the first time in school history, the school district announced.

"Talk about a running of the bulls," the district wrote.

Senior Madison Demaio’s second-half goal against South Side was the game winner as the Bulls won the girls soccer Long Island Class AA championship at Shoreham- Wading River High School on Saturday.

Smithtown High School West advances to the state semi-finals on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Cortland.

On Sunday, it was the boys turn to pull off a 1-0 victory. Senior John Savino’s second-half goal was the only score of the game as the Bulls defeated Manhasset 1-0 to win the boys soccer Long Island Class AA championship at Pat-Med High.

High School West meets Scarsdale of Section I on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Middletown High at 8:30 a.m.
