Smithtown HS West Track Runner Makes History
Laina Friedmann broke her own school records, and her coach says she set girls records for Suffolk County Winter Track and Field.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Laina Friedmann, a Smithtown High School West track runner, made history at the Section XI Individual Winter Championships on Feb. 13, the school district announced.
Friedmann broke both her school records in the 1000m run and the 600m run, qualifying for the State Meet in both. She ran a 2:55:05 for the 1000m and a 1:35:20 for the 600m.
She also set a Meet and Facility record and her coach, David Stein, said her runs were the best ever by a female in the two events in Suffolk County Winter Track and Field history.
