Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Banned From Macy's Steals From Store

ALSO: A safe containing jewelry, money and credit cards was stolen from a bedroom closet, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Oct. 7 through Oct. 13.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Oct. 11: Wilson Reyes, 32, of Centereach, stole men's cologne, a pair of shoes and sunglasses from Macy's in Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove around 2 p.m. Oct. 11, police said. Reyes had previously been served with a trespass notice banning him from entering Macy's, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary: illegal entry with intent to commit a crime. cc: 627081

Incidents

  • Oct. 11: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Richie Court in St. James at 11 a.m. Someone stole a safe from a bedroom closet, police said. The safe contained jewelry, money and credit cards, police said.
  • Oct. 9: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Foothill Lane in Smithtown at 8 p.m. Someone stole a package that was delivered to a home, police said.
