Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Punches Person In Gas Station Robbery
ALSO: Porch pirate strikes Smithtown home; and person uses someone else's name to file for unemployment benefits, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Dec. 5: Peter Bruno, 44, of Central Islip, stole a box of cigarettes from Gulf Express & Convenience Store and then punched someone, at 1979 Veterans Memorial Highway, Islandia, around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 21, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree robbery.
Incidents
- Dec. 4: Identity theft (second-degree) was reported on North Ingelore Court in Smithtown at 8 a.m. An unknown person used someone else's name to file for and receive unemployment benefits, police said.
- Dec. 3: Making graffiti was reported on Fifth Street in St. James at 9:27 a.m. Someone spray-painted the word "help" on a tree, police said.
- Dec. 2: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Wisteria Court in Smithtown at 3:21 p.m. A package containing property was delivered and left on a home's front porch, police said. Around 20 minutes later, a woman got out of her car and stole the package, police said. She got back in her car and drove away, police said.
