Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Accused Of Selling Carfentanil

ALSO: Person suffers multiple cuts in gang assault; and car stolen from driveway, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from March 3 through March 9.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • March 4: Joshua Guzman, 30, of East Patchogue, sold carfentanil on Bernard Street in Fort Salonga around 12:40 p.m. Aug. 28, 2024, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance: narcotic drug with intent to sell.

Incidents

  • March 9: Assault (second-degree) was reported on Lake Avenue in Saint James at 4:14 a.m. Someone was assaulted by a group, police said. The victim suffered cuts to their hands and body, police said.
  • March 8: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on Atterbury Drive in Smithtown at 4:32 a.m. Someone drove up in a silver vehicle and stole a white 2022 Land Rover from a driveway, police said.
