Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Stole Sunglasses, Bags From Macy's
The thefts happened at Smith Haven Mall multiple times throughout the year, police say. ALSO: Car stolen from dealership, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Sept. 23 through Sept. 29.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Oct. 3: Donnell Stengle, 43, of Brooklyn, stole from Macy's at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove several times between Jan. 30 and Oct. 30, police said. Stengle stole dozens of pairs of sunglasses, as well as Michael Kors handbags, across his multiple thefts, police said. He was arrested and charged with three counts of third-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $3,000, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000 and one count of petty larceny.
Incident
- Oct. 2: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in St. James at 12:29 p.m. Someone stole four tires off a 2025 Chevy Silverado parked in the car lot of Smithtown Nissan sometime overnight, police said.
