Smithtown Police Blotter: Serial Porch Pirate Arrested

ALSO: A woman was scammed out of money, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from Dec. 9 through Dec. 15.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 11: Nicolas Cabrera, 32, of the Bronx, stole a package, each containing an iPhone, from homes on Quenzer Street in Nesconset and Woodfield Avenue in Fort Salonga, police said. Cabrera also stole two packages, each containing an iPhone, from a home on Barrett Court in Nesconset, police said. He was arrested and charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny: value of property more than $1,000.

Incidents

  • Dec. 10: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Thomas Place in Smithtown at 7:15 p.m. A person was scammed, police said. A scammer asked a woman to go to a bank and withdraw money, police said. A man walked up to her home and requested the money, police said. She gave the man the money, police said.
