  1. Just a friendly reminder that the Smithtown Town Hall Tree Lighting is today. The event was postponed due to the weather conditions on Wednesday, Nov.30. The event starts at 6 p.m. (Patch)
  2. The Smithtown Recreation and Senior Citizens Department are hosting its Tender Years Treasury on Saturday, Dec. 3. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event features cookie decorating, balloon sculpture, crafts and snacks. Kids will be able to go shopping for items that are priced up to $5 at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown. (Smithtown Matters)
  3. Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. has some safety tips for those selling items and needs to meet in person to complete the sale. Two safety-marked areas in Suffolk County are recommended for being used as meeting grounds to meet in person for exchanges.   4. Police are investigating a possible drowning in Great South Bay. Officials pulled a young male's body out of the water after receiving a 911 call that reported someone was "floating" in the area. The discovery was nearby the South of Fire Avenue at 2:40 p.m. Police and medical examiners are working to identify the person. (Smithtown Matters)
  5. Suffolk Police Department announced via social media that an incident is under investigation at the Smith Haven Mall. Police arrived at the scene after two people reported a possible armed male strolling in the mall on Nov. 29 at 12:12 p.m. No threads to public safety were identified. (Smithtown Patch)

  • The Smithtown Public Library Tree Lighting is on Friday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. After the outdoor ceremony, refreshments and photos with Santa will be offered inside. So that you know, this event is free and registration is not required to attend. (Smithtown Public Library)
