  1. The Town of Smithtown is inviting kiddos and teens in the neighborhood to write holiday cards to the senior citizens who may be alone during the holidays. Participants can customize their cards and email or drop them off at the Town Hall to be distributed to the Senior halls and local nursing homes. Click here to see the card templates.   2. Senator Mario Mattera's 2022 Toy Drive will accept donations through Dec. 21. All gifts will go to the children under treatment at Stony Brook Hospital. If you'd like to participate, drop off a new unwrapped toy or gift card at Materra's office at 180 East Main Street, Suite 210, Smithtown. (Smithtown Matters)
  3. There will be a Menorah Lighting in Kings Park on Dec. 18! For those who will not make it to the Smithtown Hall ceremony on Dec. 20, there will be music, treats for the kids, and the whole story of the meaning of Hanukah at Kings Park Veterans Plaza, starting at 11 a.m. (LI Events)
  4. Suffolk police are working to solve Tyler Phillips' case. The teen was a fatal hit-and-run victim on Granny Road in Coram. Officials announced a checkpoint plan on Wednesday in which drivers would be checked and given a flyer to help with any information about the crash. (Port Jefferson Patch)

  • The 43rd annual Smithtown Fire Department Christmas Parade kicks off on Dec. 17. The event is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. from 100 Elm Avenue in Smithtown.
