St. James Students Use Sun Energy to Fly Solar Bag [Photos]

An experiment conducted as part of their curriculum shows how the sun's energy heats surfaces.

If you think you noticed a 50-foot black plastic bag in the sky in the St. James area recently, your eyes were not deceiving you.

Thanks to fourth grade students at St. James Elementary School, the "solar bag" was able to float in the sky as part of an experiment concerning recent curriculum surrounding how the sun’s energy heats surfaces.

Students filled the bag with air and as the bag was sitting in the sun it absorbed the sun's energy, heating up the air inside, allowing it to float in the sky.
