Student Ex-Officio Members Welcomed To Smithtown Board Of Education
The student council presidents will be able to give a student perspective or opinions on issues that involve the student body.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Alexa Lipp and Madelyn Donaghy, seniors of Smithtown High School, were recently welcomed as non-voting, ex-officio members of the Smithtown Board of Education, because of their roles as student body presidents, the district announced.
Donaghy, a Smithtown High School West senior, has been student council president since her freshman year. She says she’s excited to give a student perspective on certain questions or give opinions on issues that involve the student body.
"I’m looking forward to being involved in discussions and in the process to more accurately understand how processes are implemented in the school and to give my perspective and help the other board members to see how their decisions affect the students," Donaghy said in a news release.
