Here are the top stories in Smithtown today:

  1. Letitia James Eyes Steve Bellone As Gubernatorial Running Mate. Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone is "leading the pack" as a running mate in the attorney general's run for governor, according to reports. Bellone, a Democrat who was re-elected to a third four-year term in 2019, will have reached his executive term limit at the start of 2023, according to Suffolk County rule. Bellone has expressed his own interest in running for governor. (The Patch)
  2. Lake Avenue Smithtown's 8.2 Million Dollar Road. It was a long time coming, say many residents and business owners. And although the Lake Avenue project in Saint James’ business district may be on budget and on time (actually, much earlier), there are roadblocks that could mean it may not reach its full potential for a while. 3. Ahead Of A Busy Thanksgiving Travel Week, MacArthur Airport Is A Peaceful Oasis. While Friday saw a record number of airline passengers since the pandemic nationwide, Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip was peaceful and quiet on Sunday. (Newsday)
