Leslieanne Beller won her sex discrimination case against the Smithtown Central School District on this day in 1986.

On this day in 1986, the Supreme Court of New York Appellate Division, Second Department, ruled the Smithtown Central School District petitioner discriminated against Leslieanne Beller in its employment practices on the basis of sex, according to the New York Appellate Division Reports.
According to the archived report, the court determined that the district and then principal Harry Ortgies discriminated against Beller on the basis of sex when a full-time guidance counselor position was offered to a less-qualified male applicant.
