Here are the top four stories in Smithtown today:
- Ten Smithtown residents received erroneous tax arrears notices. The issue is due to a cyberattack on the computer government's system in September of last year. Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy apologized for the confusion and inconvenience it caused for over 130 residents in Suffolk County. If you receive the letter, you can call 631-852-1501 to reach out to the tax section in Riverhead to speak with an office staff member. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
- The officer stabbed in Medford has been released from Stony Brook University. Two officers were transported to the hospital last week after a brutal struggle with a man involved in a fight with a roommate. The cops arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call. (Long Island News12)
- Police arrested two women during a raid on a massage parlor in Commack. The duo was charged with unlawful practice of a profession and prostitution. Police arrived at the Lily Spa on Commack Road due to complaints from residents. The Smithtown Public Fire Marshal investigated the facility and found over 20 violations in the building. - A kid from Smithtown represented the U.S. Junior Ice Hockey Team. The team has been eliminated by Canadians but will compete for the bronze on Thursday against Sweden. (Smithtown Patch)
