Here are the top five stories today in Smithtown:

1. Smithtown Historical Society asks the community to vote on the Festival of Trees. If you have a Facebook account, you can see a photo of the participant's decorated trees, like your favorite! Winners will win a prize. Those who want to join the contest can signup in person during the Suffolk Lantern Festival at the Smithtown Historical Society. (Smithtown Historical Society)
   
2. Smithtown Fire Department published great retirement wishes to Steve Smith and Terry Brennan, who have been answering 911 calls in the district for more than 32 years. 3. A Fundraiser was held at Flowerfield in St. James in honor of the Island Federal Credit Union at the Ronald McDonald House Charities. About $125,000 was raised during the event to support educational programs in Suffolk County.
