Airbnb Renter Allegedly Trashes $20 Million Bridgehampton Mansion

Reportedly after the wild party he threw, the home's owner is suing him for a million dollars—and he lost his job

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Here’s a story for anyone who has ever been hesitant to rent out their summer house.

It all began as a business arrangement that went terribly wrong, according to the Daily Mail.

The site is reporting that Brett Barna agreed to pay $5, 000 a day for five days for a Bridgehampton mansion during July Fourth Weekend, arranged through Airbnb, the online rental site specializing in short-term rentals.

According to the report, Barna, a hedge funder, said he was going to hold an animal charity event for 50 people last Sunday at the mansion.

It turned into an all-day full-on wild raver pool party, dubbed "sprayathon", with the guest list swelling to over 1,000 people, according to the New York Post, which reported that it was “a wild ‘Wolf of Wall Street’-style Hamptons party — awash with champagne, scores of bikini-clad women and costumed gun-toting midgets . . .”

Plus, rapper Ace Hood performed and wild posts hit social media.

The fallout from the bash, reports the Daily Mail, has left the owner saying he wants to sue Barna for $1 million.

Barna was let go from Moore Capital Managment, where he worked, bloomberg.com said: "Mr. Barna's personal judgement was inconsistent with the firm's values," the firm told the site via email. "He is no longer employed by Moore Capital Management."
