Barrel Fans Help Keep Even Horses Cool

During the hear wave, you are no doubt turning the air conditioning up or pulling out as many fans as you can find.

Many are also turning to heavy-duty industrial fans for use outside of their house.

Af Water Mill Building Supply, which is also a True Value hardware store, these commercial drum fans are popular items for construction sites.

Aaron Seymore, an employee, told Patch that several customers have purchased the 36-inch portable drum fans, for horse stables.

"They help keep the horses cool," he said, as he took a moment to cool off in front of one that was on in the back of the store. "It definitely works."

The fans are designed to ventilate large, open spaces, such as warehouses. They have a set of wheels for easy moving, and the three blades run at two speeds.

The fans come in different sizes, but the 36-inch one sells for about $300.

But who can put a price on keeping cool?
