Driver Passing Vehicles Unsafely Caught With Cocaine: Police

He was also driving with a revoked license, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested Wednesday after he was found driving with a revoked license and while in possession of cocaine, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 5:19 p.m. when an officer on patrol in Riverside observed the driver of a 2016 Honda Fit passing vehicles in an unsafe manner on Flanders Road near Vail Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted and George Devlin, 64, was found to be operating with a revoked license; he was also iin possession of a quantity of cocaine, police said.

He was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing, police said. Devlin was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, as well as several traffic infractions, police said.

He was released on a field appearance tiicket for arraignment on a future date at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
