Enjoy the Weather, Learn about the Climate, and Head to the Carnival
Your guide to what's happening in the community.

Happy Wednesday, Southampton!
-- The weather the past few days has been beautiful. Unfortunately, rain is coming. Sunshine and clouds will mix with highs near 75 during the day will give way to thunderstorms on Thursday. So enjoy the weather today!
-- If you see the Secret Service around town, it's for Vice President Joe Biden. He's in Southampton, again, on vacation. If you get any photos with the second in command, email them to Taylor.Vecsey@patch.com.
-- Current evaluations of sea level rise and meteorological impacts indicate
that coastal communities will be dealing with the effects of global warming
much sooner than earlier predicted. The Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton will host a talk with Climate Reality Project Leader Kathleen Cunningham about what to expect and learn how to prepare for the future. It begins at noon.
-- End the day at the Sag Harbor Fireman's Carnival. Tonight, in addition to the carnival attractions, there's also live music. Clearwater Stills, a band made up of Sag Harbor residents Mark Balserus, Brendan Sheil, and James Frazier, will take the stage from 8 to 10 p.m.
-- Summer is still in full swing, but school is right around the corner. To help you gear up for the 2013-14 school year, we've put together a fall sports schedule guide. You can mark your calendar ahead of time with all the big games. Homecoming is set for Sept. 23 to 28.
