Man Charged With DWI After Riverside Crash: Police

RIVERSIDE, NY — A Riverside man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Monday night, police said.

James Amentler, 53, was arrested at just after 7:45 p.m. after he struck a storm drain and a mailbox while making a U-turn on Dogwood St. in Riverside, Southampton Town police said.

Amentler continued driving and struck several bushes while attempting to park the vehicle, police said.

He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI and other traffic infractions, police said. He was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for medical evaluation and released on an appearance ticket to be arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
