Quit Smoking for Good on Tuesday

Your guide to what's happening in the community.

Good morning, East Hampton. Here’s a look at Tuesday.

- You might want to have a backup plan for outdoor activities, in case it rains. Weather.com is predicting an 50 percent chance of rain with possible thunderstorms.

- The Southampton Village Board of Trustees meets Tuesday at 5 p.m. There are no public hearings on the agenda, but there is one presentation regarding ambulance equipment.

- The Southampton Town Board also meets on Tuesday night at 6. For the entire agenda, click here.

- We'd like to get your input on cellphone service around town. Is it dependable? Which carrier is the best or worst?

- Have you tried everything to quit smoking? Hypnosis may be the answer. Certified Hypnotist Albert R O’Connell III offers a workshop at the Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute at Southampton Hospital on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The cost is $75 and pre-registration is required.

- The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Mary in Southampton is now selling raffle tickets and tickets for its Aug. 31 cocktail party. The raffle tickets are $100 each with a maximum of 500 chances to be sold and there will be 10 prizes totaling $20,000.

- Early Tuesday morning, I received a text from Cari Siegal, who got engaged during Saturday's Soldier Ride. She saw the article and photographs, and she wrote in with thanks. "Such a great way to capture our special day," she said. Thanks for letting us share your story, Cari!
