UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The East Village's Café Maud is set to open a new cafe and bar concept and a secret hideaway restaurant on the Upper East Side this Friday.

The new, two-tiered cafe, located on Second Avenue near East 85th Street, will feature a cocktail-forward bar as well as coffee house drinks and an all-day menu with bites like pastries, breakfast burritos and crispy tuna rice.

On the second floor, the cafe's owners are debuting The Domino Room, a restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace and wraparound balcony inspired by the historic private room in London’s Café Royal Hotel, where Oscar Wilde and other literati would gather.

For Upper East Siders who can sit and stay a while, the cafe's light, airy interior features custom millwork and handcrafted stone furnishings by a company called Ardor that designed The Malin's luxury coworking spaces downtown.

But, for Upper East Siders in a rush, the cafe will also have a cheery coffee window for on the go-orders, the owners said.

The new cafe is taking over the duplex space previously rented by Five Mile Stone, which closed in mid-January.

Cafe Maud on the Upper East Side will be located at 1640 Second Ave. and will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weeknights and will be open until 4 a.m. on weekends.
