UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A new name for the new club replacing the longtime classic comedy spot in Lenox Hill has finally been revealed.

Dangerfield's, the First Avenue venue opened and operated by the frequently disrespected comedy legend Rodney Dangerfield in 1969 until its closure in 2020, will now reopen as Rodney's, a new club under the ownership of local comic, Mark Yosef.

And to kick off the return of the laughter, the lineup for Rodney's New Year's Eve inaugural bash has also been revealed, with a mix of seasoned comedians from the city's scene and heralded up-and-comers.

The night will be hosted by stand-up Larry Beyah, a former writer for the hit sitcom, Frasier, and who had also performed at Dangerfields prior to its closure.

Dangerfields, Beyah wrote on Instagram, "which had given all of us comedians a phenomenal place to work over the years IS BACK!

Rodney's opening night also includes:

  • Vannessa Jackson, a writer on SNL since 2021
  • Sam Morrison, as seen on Late Night with Seth Meyers
  • Natalie Cuomo, not related to the political family and named in New York Comedy Festival’s “Comics To Watch” in 2023
  • Dan Naturman, as seen on Letterman, Conan and America’s Got Talent

The show begins at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $100 and include an open bar and a midnight champagne toast.

Dangerfield opened his eponymous club in 1969, providing the neighborhood with 50 years of laughs from stars such as Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Roseanne and Chris Rock.

Iconic scenes from the 2019 film "Joker" were also shot in the groundbreaking club.

But the laughter stopped in October 2020, when pandemic restrictions forced the club to permanently close.
